Can my ex force me to sell my house? January 1, 1970 00:00:00I have been divorced for over four years. My exs name is still on the mortgage even though I pay it (on time) and the taxes and have for several years now. I have been trying to refinance to remove his name but they denied me and told me to try again in six months. Now my ex is threatening me and trying to force me to sell the house. I refuse. Since I am not defaulting on the mortgage and pay every month on time is there anything he can do to force me to sell? And if so, is there anything I... - [Read more] |

need to get out of mortgage payment asap January 1, 1970 00:00:00I have an investment home that I can no longer afford. Its value has dropped significantly and I cant sell it. I cant rent it any where near what my payment is. What would be the best way for me to get out of this home, with the least amount of damage to my credit? Also, my husband is on the title, would this hurt his credit as well? If so, how can I avoid hurting his credit score?
Thanks,

2nd Mtg is charged off, collection company has 2 plans what should I do? January 1, 1970 00:00:00My first is out of foreclosure due to a loan modification. My 2nd has been charged off. I spoke with the collection company and they said that we can either make a payment plan or offer a lump some to settle the account and release the lien. My main question is, did the collection company buy this charge off for pennies on the dollar? What is an acceptable offer? I owe $80,000 on the 2nd, can I offer like $40,000 to settle the account? I just hate to offer too much and shoot myself in... - [Read more] |
Ex Spouse Filing for Bankruptcy Have Mortgage together. January 1, 1970 00:00:00Hello Great site you have going here.
I have searched the forum and could not find anything specific to my situation. If I overlooked it I am sorry.
My ex wife and I have a mortgage on the house I was given in the divorce settlement. I have been working with the bank to get it refinanced but not done yet.
If she files for bankruptcy she told me her lawyer said that it will not affect me as far as the house goes. She said they will simply come after me to pay for it which I already... - [Read more] |
foreclosure / quit claim January 1, 1970 00:00:00Hi, Im hoping someone can help answer a question. I live in the state of Washington with my wife. Our home, which I qualified for under my own name, is now in jeopardy of foreclosure. Additionally, my wife signed a quit claim when we first acquired the mortgage. Can someone tell me if the act of my wife declaring bankruptcy will temporarly prevent the sale of the property? If so, do I need to somehow nullify the quit claim that she signed? How would I go about doing that? Thanks much... - [Read more] |

January 1, 1970 00:00:00My wife and I have been seperated for two years, we have a 2nd mortgage together out on the house that she purchased prior to us getting married, she currently resides in the house and pays both mortgages. She wants to refinance both mortgages into one mortgage. Should we proceed with the quick claim deed first and than the refinance? - [Read more] |
Can your mortgage company force you into buying flood insurance? January 1, 1970 00:00:00I have been paying my mortgage with the same concern for over 15 years without flood insurance. My land is considered zoned in flood plains although a flood has not happened in twenty years. Could I just not suffer the loss if indeed a natural disaster (flood) happens again. - [Read more] |
Is "Quit Claim" a viable legal alternative to a "formal" for January 1, 1970 00:00:00My wife and I sold property to another couple who have decided they can no longer make payments (has nothing to do with mortgage terms, etc). They are three months behind and owe over $3000 in taxes. If they are willing, could we use a quit claim to revert the property back to me and my wife? I understand that we would be responsible for the taxes (if we cant convince the other couple to take care of them immediately) and that we should not expect the back three payments. We live in... - [Read more] |

She told her that when she dies that it will be easier for her to have the home transfered over into her name and avoid probate.
Make a long sotry short...there was a quit claim done by an atty adding her name the aide on the home..now there has been abuse to the homeowner by the aide and the aide was... - [Read more] |

Forgiven Debt in Estate January 1, 1970 00:00:00I am the Executor of my Fathers estate and in addition to ~$5000 of credit card debt that was forgiven, the Mortgage holder accepted a short sale on the property which resulted in ~$21000 difference. Will the estate be required to pay taxes on this ~$26000 or will the ~$21000 be covered under the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act and not be taxable. I have been unable to find any information talking about how this affects estates. - [Read more] |

Is it posible to get a home loan with a credit score below 600? January 1, 1970 00:00:00We are trying to purchase a new manufactured home in Ohio and we own the land with all the improvements already in place, but we are having trouble getting approved for a loan because of our credit score. Our scores range from 520-580 and we have a co-signer with a score between 580-620. Is this a possiblity or should we just give up hope? We deffinitly have the means to afford the home we just need the bank to give us a chance. - [Read more] |
