Hosting and MySQL and PHP
October 31, 2007 14:33:55Im starting to shop for hosting with PHP and MySQL available and need some help. Right now I develop on a Windows box running Apache2, PHP5, MySQL, and Id like to essentially copy this local site (my desk) to an off-site host.
I assume copying (uploading) html and php scripts is easy (tools such as Dreamweaver let me do this), but uploading MySQL tables seems to be a mystery: where would they go? Can I do this myself?

Hesitancy with 3 good hosting

My selection with preference order is :
1 - medialayer
2 - pair network
3 - steadfast
Do you agree with this order ?
I know the 3 are really good when we read about them on this forum.

Support tickets starting to get annoying!!
October 31, 2007 13:00:09Not sure if this bothers any one else but recently when I get support via a support ticket I do get the issue resolved I will get an email later saying the ticket will be closed.
its like arrg do not send me an email just close it if I still help with that issue I know where to go.
Name cheap sent me I think it was 3 email on the same ticket saying it was going to be closed.

Ixwebhosting sucks for not stopping a user selling my software!
October 31, 2007 10:36:28Ok i just want to vent with frustration because i reported to ixwebhosting that one of their users (in China) is selling a rebranded version of my ASP script, and anyone can see they are the same (from screenshots on his site) but they say their hands are tied and ask that i send them copywright registration documents. I even have a copy of his files (sent by a buyer of his) and they are identical except for the page colours.

How to update 101 files that are equal at once?

Suggestions for customizing flash templates
October 31, 2007 01:04:41I have purchased Flash template from icetemplates.com. I am not sure whether they make it complicated or it is indeed complicate. I couldnt figure out to change from 4 letter link to 6 letter link.
They had 3 layers, (text, button, layer) for all the links. I changed "Bath" to "Window" in all the three places and it reflects there. But when i run this, it is only showing 4 characters (Wind, Indo, etc.,). Where else should i check?

Shape Tween problem

copyright infringement question
August 31, 2007 22:38:42I recently heard that Facebook tried to sue some website for copyright infringement even though the website didnt even look like facebook and all that.
So, this rises a question: where do you draw the line? Or more correctly, where does the judge draw the line between a site that simply looks similar and a real attempt to copy the general look and feel of a website?

How often do you update your websites?
August 31, 2007 20:35:24I often wonder how often other web hosts update their websites. We update about every six months.
Graphic touch ups, integrations and the like being performed. Its just general improvement/security updates.
Do any other hosts update this often?
