The way to help is already somewhere within us March 23, 2011 23:29:03Most people come to this earth with a natural instinct to want to help their fellowmen. That inborn tendency prompts us to stop to help change the flat tire of a stranded motorist, leap to help reunite a strayed child in the grocery store with her frantic mother, or return the purse accidentally left in a shopping cart to the customer service desk. Occasionally we receive that kind of help from a total stranger. Hopefully we give that kind of help to a total stranger.

Surprise appointment intrudes on TRICARE fee debate March 23, 2011 23:26:35Senior Defense officials defended their plan to raise TRICARE Prime fees modestly for working-age retirees at a Tuesday hearing of the House armed services subcommittee on military personnel.
Next day, representatives of military associations testified. Forget Blatter, bin Hammam: Platini for president March 23, 2011 21:58:07PARIS -- If he could rewind the years, Michel Platini would like to be back on the pitch, carving up teams again with his elegant passes, free kicks and goals or, failing that, taking another crack at coaching Frances national team, Les Bleus.
But, to his credit, this football romantic is a realist, too. At age 55, "its hard to be a player or a coach again. So all that is left for me is to be the president of something. And something in football is UEFA," he said this week of the... - [Read more] |

Manny Pacquiao's trainer extols benefits of chemistry March 23, 2011 21:47:01All these years later, it turns out Brother Charles Klein was right.
Klein was my high school chemistry teacher. Once, after he chided me for my seeming lack of interest in his course, I told him that it was not my intention to become a chemist and that upon obtaining a passing grade, I no doubt would quickly forget the atomic weight of every element on the periodic table. Good man that he was, he patiently responded to my impertinence by saying the information he had endeavored to... - [Read more] |
