Radio Free America July 31, 2007 08:58:58The failure of liberal talk radio is an issue for liberals to ponder and solve. When Sen. Dick Durbin, Democrat of Illinois, talks about fairness, it`s a good idea to count the silverware. "It`s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine," says the assistant majority leader. "I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they`re in a better position to make a decision." - [Read more] |
Report of the Virginia Tech Review Panel August 31, 2007 08:58:59The Virginia Tech review panel has issued its findings, and included in it a recommendation to regulate gun sales at gun shows. This is an revealing addition to the report since Cho did not purchase either of his guns at a gun show and completed the sales at FFL dealers who conducted background checks as required by federal and Virginia law.
See Section VI to read recommendations about gun shows. - [Read more] |

Sarah Palin and Her Discontents September 5, 2008 10:01:53There is something ignoble about these elite, affluent, and well-connected observers in smug fashion savaging Palin, when — especially in the case of the sneering power-women — we should all at least grant that Palin is intrinsically bright, energetic, savvy, and independent to have come this far at all, given the slanted and insider rules of the game she’s in. - [Read more] |

Seattle`s proposed gun-free zone August 13, 2008 09:54:44Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels recently proposed a gun ban on city of Seattle property, which we wrote about here. The decision was especially puzzling because of the monumental ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. v. Heller, where the Court said the Second Amendment protects an individual`s right to bear arms -- it`s not an antiquated right preserved only for militia men. - [Read more] |

Small Hopes And Large Upsets August 18, 2008 10:21:04It is now clear why Barack Obama has refused John McCain`s offer of joint town hall appearances during the fall campaign. McCain is obviously better at them. - [Read more] |

Gun Laws August 5, 2008 10:35:09Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have agreed to allow a vote next month on a bill that would end local handgun control in the District, making it easier for D.C. residents to acquire pistols, including semiautomatics, while eliminating the strict handgun-storage requirements imposed by the city. - [Read more] |
Students lobby for Right to Carry August 4, 2008 09:52:50For anti-gunners, the idea of giving college students the right to carry on campus may seem counter-intuitive after last year`s Virginia Tech massacre. But the proposal is deadly serious, said young men and women from colleges across the country who attended the first Students for Concealed Carry on Campus National Conference on Friday. The issue is not keeping guns out of the hands of college students, but whether properly licensed students should be able to defend themselves while on campus... - [Read more] |
