Brands Hatch provided the setting for the seventh round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The undulating Kent countryside circuit exhibited temperatures higher than any of those on the WTCC calendar so far. Northern Queensland hosted the inaugural Townsville 400 V8 Supercar meeting in what can only be described as a carnival event much alike the Clipsal in Adelaide. The World Rally Championship moved to Argentina, and the Hampshire circuit of Thruxton welcomed the British Touring Car Championship. Both venues provided warm and rain-free racing for the weekend, as well as some top class action. - [Read more]

Sebastien Loeb furthered himself from the previous breed of the World Rallying elite, as he secured his 50th WRC victory in Cyprus. On what was the first mixed surface event in over 12 years, Loeb dominated from the outset leaving his rivals trailing. - [Read more]

An amazing mixture of international motorsport events took place. The notoriously tough Acropolis rally was the destination of the WRC, whereas the BTCC moved to North Yorkshires Croft circuit. The pure snow event of Rally Norway is the only scheduled snow rally on the 2009 WRC calendar. Poland greeted the World Rally for the first time since 1973, when Adchm Warmbold won in a FIAT 124 Spider Abarth. The location had changed since the 70s base of Krakow, and now found home in the Polish lake district town of Mikolajki. - [Read more]

The first weekend of April saw an action packed Motorsport calendar. The WTCC moved to the picturesque Moravian circuit of Brno in the Czech Republic. The Intercontinental Rally Challenge moved to the world-famous Ypres Rally, a specialist asphalt event favoured by the Belgians much like the Scandinavians favour Rally Finland. The historic street circuit of Pau welcomed the World Touring Car Championship to France during an event which would provide talking points for sometime to come. Donington Park surprised many as it was granted the a racing licence by the Motor Sports Association, meaning the British Touring Car Championship meeting would go ahead on a circuit which always provided top class racing action. - [Read more]

The World Touring Car Championship moved northwards from Brazil, to Puebla in Mexico. The BMWs would be looking to strike back after being swamped by the SEATs in the last round.
