US air strike inside Pakistan – Display of respect of Pakistan’s sovereignty by the US
Washington: Pakistani and the US leader met yesterday at the White House. President Bush’s assurance was immediately followed by a missile attack inside Pakistani boarder by the US and Afghanistan security forces killing at least 6 people. US claims killing a Taliban leader in this attack. After meeting Prime Minister of Pakistan, President Bush in his brief address said “Pakistan is a strong ally and a vibrant democracy, and the United States supports the democracy and supports the sovereignty of Pakistan.”
US attack inside Pakistani territory kills 6 locals
Peshawar: Coinciding with the date of the meeting that was being held between the US President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the US forced launched missile attack inside Pakistani territory claiming to have killed a Taliban leader. The attack also resulted in killing women and children residing in the house that got hit by the missile. According to unconfirmed reports Abu Khabab Al Misri, a Taliban leader also died in the attack.
Pakistan concerned over US-India Nuclear deal
Islamabad: Pakistan has been under immense pressure from the US on the India-US nuclear deal. Pakistan could and might be press for a vote on IAEA safeguard agreement during the meeting of board of governors this week.
Custom duty on Petroleum products to go
Karachi: While talking to the media, Finance Minister said that government is planning to scrap custom duty on petroleum products. The government also plans for a gradual scarping of sale tax that will be replaced with equal amount of subsidy. These measures by the government will help in bringing down the prices of petroleum products.
Pakistan fully capable of defending itself – says General Tariq Majid
Islamabad: During the meeting between Lieutenant General Martin E. Dempsey and General Tariq Majid which was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Chaklala, General Tariq expressed his concerns over attacks from Afghanistan and coalition forces inside Pakistani territory. He said that such acts of aggression can hinder bilateral relationship. General Tariq also assured the US general that Pakistan was completely capable of handling any challenges to the country’s security.
