The steroid problem in professional sports is rampant and more widespread than the vast majority of people are willing to believe. It sets a terrible example for young people, but it is indicative of a much larger problem in American society: cheating to win. Winning at all costs throws morality and "doing the right thing" out the window. It is what you do, rather than how you do it. The worst part of the steroid controversy is the unwillingness of anyone to take responsibility. To a small extent, Jason Giambi has, and I respect him for it. But people like Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire make me sick. Their bodies may be giant, but their souls are tiny, weak, and shriveled.
